Rio Meão, Portugal-based Fábrica de Papel e Cartão da Zarrinha, S.A., the producer of recycled paper reels, corrugated board and corrugated packaging in Portugal, has confirmed its ongoing installation of an HP PageWide C550 Press. Expected to be fully operational by the end of October, this new digital press is set to fortify Zarrinha’s commitment to produce high-quality boxes while being environmentally responsible.
The company’s decision to purchase the HP PageWide C550 Press came after their recent visit to the HP’s open house in June 2023. The event convinced them that the C550 was the right fit for boosting their performance.
“With the HP PageWide C550 Press, we anticipate a game-changing shift in our production capabilities,” Zarrinha said. “From Variable Data Printing (VDP) to cost-effective medium runs, this state-of-the-art technology will allow us to cater to customer demands. Plus, the elimination of a minimum order quantity will greatly benefit our customers.”

Zarrinha envisions further enriching the customer experience specifically for the wine and beer markets. With a printing speed of 90 m/min and digital flexibility, the company aims to replicate the variable data printing labels seen on bottles onto the boxes, a capability currently limited in Portugal due to the speed of the available digital equipment.
