WestRock announces Rajiv Banavali as Senior Vice President, Science and Innovation. In a newly created role, Banavali will expand the materials science capabilities for creating new products, processes and services across the company with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
Banavali is an organic chemist by trade, beginning his career as a scientist at Texas Christian University, then spending 30 years in the chemical industry in research and development. His work has focused on creating a sustainability strategy for the a variety of industries.
“I am excited to get to know the paper scientists, packaging and design engineers, and automation experts all across WestRock and learn what we’re capable of together,” said Banavali. “Discovering the next transformation in paper and packaging is not only the right thing to do for our business sand customers, it is also the right thing to do for the planet.”
