Welch Acquires Cooper Container II

US based Welch Packaging Group, Inc., headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana, recently completed the acquisition of Cooper Container II, a corrugated sheet plant strategically located near Nashville serving the growing industrial base in Tennessee. “Welch Packaging has two distribution centers in the area and this acquisition significantly strengthens our ability to serve our customers,” says Welch President, Scott Welch.  Cooper Container II was started in 1997 by A.C. Cooper with the acquisition of Kirby Container. A.C. remains actively involved in serving customers in Tennessee with Cooper Container Corporation located in Knoxville Tennessee. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Welch continues to expand its footprint in the Midwest to service the needs of customers. The company now has 11 manufacturing locations and 5 distribution centres strategically located throughout the Midwest (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee) including a corrugator and extensive labeling capabilities in graphics. “We have a long-term growth plan and want to focus on partnering with family owned businesses that specialise in converting custom corrugated products for local customers. Cooper II is a well-run operation with a home grown leader and is a perfect complement to our business”, says John Martin, Executive Vice President. “They have a great team of hardworking associates, good equipment, a talented leadership team and strong relationships with their customers.  We value our relationship with A.C.
