Van Genechten Packaging climate targets validated by SBTi

Van Genechten Packaging has had its near-term climate targets officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming that its emissions reduction plans are aligned with climate science.

By 2030, VGP has committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 34.12% compared with its 2024 base year. The folding carton packaging group has also committed to ensuring that suppliers representing 83% of its procurement spend on purchased goods and services have science-based targets in place.

According to VGP, approximately 92% of its carbon footprint is linked to its value chain, making collaboration with suppliers and customers a key part of its decarbonisation strategy.

The company worked with Möbius Sustainability to develop and submit its targets for SBTi validation. VGP said the validation provides a clear direction for its climate strategy, with its focus now on translating the targets into measurable progress across its sites, projects and partnerships.
