Toscotec to supply refurbished drying section for Ranheim Paper & Board

Norwegian manufacturer Ranheim Paper & Board selected Toscotec for the reconstruction of the PM5 drying section at its paper mill in Ranheim, near Trondheim. Scheduled for Q3 2023, the project will increase the production capacity and efficiency of the paper machine. The MP5 produces cardboard and solidboard in the grammage range of 220 to 540 gsm.

The first phase will see Toscotec supply new felt runnings, including bearings and guide systems suitable for the higher felt tensions, as well as some internal felt meshes to provide greater cleanliness. The objective of this phase is to increase the overall production efficiency of the dryer section by increasing felt tensions. Associated services include complete assembly with supervision, commissioning and start-up assistance.

Øistein Vedahl, Managing Director, Ranheim Paper & Board, says, “This refurbishment represents a strategic investment aimed at increasing PM5 production and efficiency. We selected Toscotec because we knew their ability to successfully manage reconstruction projects and we were impressed with their technical solution during the project discussion.”

Giancarlo Gianlorenzi, Sales Manager, Toscotec, says, “With this reconstruction project, Toscotec enters a highly technological market. We are pleased to start a cooperation with Ranheim Paper & Board in Northern Europe. Toscotec’s ability to provide dryer section rebuilds that include custom engineering, project management, assembly and start-up all in one package has exciting potential in this market area.”
