The Box Factory set for further expansion as it orders more machinery

Neil Price, Managing Director of Leamington Spa-based The Box Factory Ltd, has confirmed the company recently placed a significant order that will see the installation of two new converting lines, with ancillary equipment. The order, which amounted to almost £4m, includes a three colour Latitude PP1230 flexo folder gluer with Emmepi peripherals and a three colour Weipong Venus 1625 SSTKB rotary die-cutter.

Negotiated with the UK and Ireland agent for Latitude, Emmepi and Weipong – GTS (Europe) Ltd – this is the largest single investment project undertaken by The Box Factory. And once again, The Box Factory further reinforces its relationship with GTS (Europe) and Latitude, as this will be the third Latitude to be run by the Warwickshire sheet plant.

One of the existing Latitude lines at The Box Factory, which was installed in 2018.

The Latitude PP1230 casemaker is equipped with a rotary die-cutting unit, three flexo print units and an end of line JB Machinery dryer. Interestingly, this will be the first ever line to include Latitude’s recently launched waste removal system, which is fitted just after the rotary die-cut section and ensures all waste pieces are removed prior to folding and gluing. The high volume line will feature a complete suite of peripheral units from the Emmepi Group, including Prima bundle strapper, fully automatic palletiser, pallet press and conveyors to the finished goods section.

In addition, the company has ordered a three colour Weipong Venus rotary die-cutter. The machine is being configured to run as an ‘inside out’ machine, printing two colours on the topside of the sheet and one colour on the inside of the sheet in a single pass.

“Business continues to hold up, even during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Neil Price. “We have developed some new business opportunities and the addition of the new Latitude will allow us to considerably grow our case production volumes. We have also seen a growth in e-commerce packaging requirements and having the ability to print inside and out on the new Weipong will allow us to efficiently service this growing segment of our business.”

“We are delighted to receive this order from The Box Factory,” says David Williams, Managing Director of GTS (Europe). “Our relationship goes back many years and we have grown together as partner businesses; the trust that Neil Price and his team places in us is testament to the equipment we are able to supply them, but also the levels of service and support. We are humbled to be able to help them take a massive step forward with this multi-million pound investment.”

This significant installation will be handled in a phased approach, with the first phases starting in the summer of 2021.
