Sun Chemical has confirmed it has expanded its metallic inks portfolio to provide converters and brand owners with a broader range of solutions for creating premium visual effects across packaging applications.
The portfolio includes metallic inks for flexographic and gravure printing, available in water-based, solvent-based and UV-curable formulations for use across labels, folding cartons and flexible packaging.
The expanded range has been developed to meet growing demand for packaging that enhances shelf appeal while offering flexibility across different printing processes.
Sun Chemical manufactures its own metallic pigments and offers a range of finishes, from standard metallic effects to high-lustre and mirror-like appearances. The portfolio includes cornflake, silver dollar and vacuum metallised pigment (VMP) technologies, allowing converters to balance visual effect, opacity and cost depending on application requirements.
The company says its metallic inks can also support sustainability objectives in certain applications by reducing the need for metallised films and foils while maintaining a premium appearance.
