The world’s best packaging for 2017 has been selected and Stora Enso’s EcoFishBox won the World Packaging Organization’s WPO Sustainability Award. The package was also awarded the WorldStar Award.
“This EcoFishBox case is an excellent example related to our proactive design work and we are very happy that this eco-packaging for the fish industry has been recognised and awarded the Sustainability Award in the WorldStar 2017 competition. It can replace plastics, is recyclable and saves space during transport and warehousing, which makes EcoFishBox a very sustainable packaging alternative”, says Peter Thorstensson, SVP and Head of Corrugated Nordics, Stora Enso Packaging Solutions division.
Designed in-house, the box is waterproof and leakproof, thanks to its pre-made PET lamination to the liner and special folding method. The fibre-based box is made of renewable material, is space-saving and supplied as a flat corrugated pack. Completely recyclable, the EcoFishBox can replace previously used polystyrene boxes.
