Smurfit Westrock starts work on new facility in Mexico

, confirms the company has recently started work on a new facility in Mexico.

“Recently, we markws an important milestone for our company and for the region: we laid the first stone of our new Consumer Packaging Obregon plant, in Cajeme, Sonora. A project that promotes growth, innovation and local economic development,” he said in a statement. “We appreciate the presence of the Secretary of Economy and Tourism Roberto Gradillas, Mayor Javier Lamarque and the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Ireland in Mexico, Aisling McCauley, who joined this key moment that will strengthen the industry, generate jobs and promote more sustainable packaging solutions.”

He concluded, “This is the beginning of a new stage that reaffirms our commitment to Mexico, to our customers and to the communities where we operate.”
