Saica Paper’s Partington mill reaches six million tonnes of recycled paper production

Saica Paper’s PM-11 mill in Partington, Greater Manchester, has reached a production milestone of six million tonnes of recycled paper since beginning operations in January 2012.

The six-millionth tonne was produced on 7th September 2026, marking more than 14 years of production at the site. PM-11 converts recovered paper into recycled containerboard for use in corrugated packaging.

Designed with a focus on resource efficiency, Saica says the mill uses 40% less water and 50% less electricity per tonne of paper compared with industry guidelines, while helping to keep recovered fibre in circulation through its use as a raw material.

Saica credited the milestone to the expertise and work of the team at Partington, highlighting the role employees have played in the development and operation of PM-11 since production began.
