Saica Group’s £10m warehouse project in Hartlepool is now operational

Saica Pack has confirmed the successful completion and launch of its new warehouse in Hartlepool, County Durham. The site’s opening – and part of a £10m investment – marks a substantial investment into Hartlepool’s local community, sustaining employment opportunities in the packaging industry within the area. The new warehouse will expand Saica Pack’s operations, sustainably developing various packing solutions to meet the growing service demands of its varied client base nationwide.

Designed to support both current operations and future growth, the new facility in Hartlepool significantly enhances Saica’s operational capacity, accommodating up to 9,000 pallets, more than double the average capacity of comparable warehouses in the region which typically house 4,250. This expanded capability strengthens the site’s role as a strategic hub for Saica Pack, enabling increased flexibility and efficiency in handling both sheet and converted corrugated products.

The warehouse has also successfully delivered on its sustainability commitments through the integration of renewable energy solutions. The facility incorporates solar panels capable of generating up to 10% of the plant’s total energy requirements, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of operations. This achievement underscores Saica’s continued commitment to environmental responsibility and reflects its broader ambition to drive measurable progress towards a more sustainable future.

The facility also incorporates dedicated space for the logistics team, alongside a designated rest area for drivers, improving day-to-day operations and supporting a more efficient and well-coordinated working environment.

Riccardo Tonelli, Regional Director – Saica Pack Northeast, said, “We’re delighted to see our Hartlepool facility now fully operational, delivered on time and within budget through strong collaboration across our teams and partners.”

The launch of the Hartlepool site also aligns with an important regional engagement, as Saica will serve as the main sponsor of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce Senior Leaders Programme “1815” lunch in early May. This event provides an ideal platform to highlight Saica’s growing presence and leadership in sustainable manufacturing across the Northeast of England. Tonelli will represent Saica at the event, delivering an address following the keynote speaker. His remarks will reinforce Saica’s strategic vision, its sustainability achievements, and the importance of the new Hartlepool facility within the region.
