Progress for Dunapack in Romania

Dunapack Packaging, part of Austrian Prinzhorn Group, has completed the first step of its plant upgrade at Sfântu Gheorghe, 200 km north of Bucharest in Romania.

The enlargement includes an extension of the existing warehouse storage capacity by 4,000 sqm, allowing Dunapack to further enhance its customer service level. Also included in this first step is the installation of a Bobst five colour flatbed die cutter and a Masterfold folder gluer. These installations will allow Sfântu Gheorghe to further increase the complexity and quality of its shelf ready packaging solutions.

The plant modernisation with a new conveyor system and other additional automation upgrades will provide a modern working environment allowing Dunapack to maintain a high standard of health and safety for its staff.

As a next step, a 2.8m corrugator from BHS Corrugated will replace the existing machine. Installation works are scheduled to be finalised in Q1 2020.

Together with the new Dunapack plant in Bolintin, 20 km west of Bucharest (expected to start up in summer 2019), the company will reach a production capacity of 300mn sqm per year.

Alexander Enzenberg, Managing Director of Dunapack Packaging Division, said, “After more than 20 years of solid presence in Romania, we are really proud of our local team. The Sfântu Gheorghe plant always served as an excellent entry-hub. The upgrade will strengthen and secure this position for a long period of time.”

Stanislav Razpopov, Regional Director South of Dunapack Packaging added, “With our two-plant-setup and with state of the art machinery in place, we will be able to supply our customers with even better high quality packaging solutions. This keeps us confident to look into a bright future in this vibrant and important market.”
