Pregis has acquired MP Global Packaging, a division of MP Global Products, expanding its fibre-based packaging portfolio and strengthening its position in the temperature-sensitive shipping market. The acquisition complements Pregis’ existing paper-based packaging portfolio and supports its continued investment in sustainable materials and cold chain solutions.
MP Global Packaging operates manufacturing facilities in New Albany, IN, and Norfolk, NE, and employs approximately 110 people. The business produces paper-based thermal packaging designed to protect temperature-sensitive shipments while enabling curbside recycling where suitable collection systems are available.
The acquisition adds thermal insulation technology manufactured from macerated cardboard to Pregis’ portfolio. The material is used to provide thermal protection for temperature-sensitive products during transportation. Pregis said the technology complements the paper-based cold chain solutions it has been developing and provides a platform for further growth in fibre-based temperature-controlled packaging.
The company plans to follow a similar investment strategy to that used for its Pregis EverTec paper mailer technology, which it acquired in 2020. Pregis has subsequently expanded the EverTec operation to five dedicated manufacturing facilities, producing more than one billion mailers annually.

Reid Borgman, who previously led the MP Global Packaging division, will continue to oversee the operation after joining Pregis as Vice President and General Manager of Cold Chain.
