It has been reported in a local newspaper that Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) has called employees back to work at its paper mill in Jackson.
In mid-November, PCA announced that it was temporarily laying off nearly all of its 400 workers and idling the mill. The company did not expand on its decision at the time, but did issue a statement that said the shutdown was due to “economic conditions and lower demand for our products. We fully intend to resume operations after the holidays.”
PCA recently converted the Jackson mill from the production of graphic paper to run containerboard.
