Out of the waste the company generated, including production, packaging, and hazardous waste, 26% was recycled and the remaining 74% was sent for energy recovery.
Zero Waste to Landfill certification was earned following an extensive audit in September, which reviewed all of Parkside’s activities through data collection, on-site observations, and interviews with senior quality and safety personnel.
Richard Hallas, QHSE Manager, Parkside, said, “This is an achievement years in the making Everyone across the business, including suppliers and customers, has played their part in ensuring we have the processes and infrastructure in place to eliminate waste sent to landfill.”
To drive improved environmental performance, Parkside holds ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), and ISO 9001 (quality management) certification. The company is aiming reduce its carbon emissions by 5% in 2026.
Parkside has also partnered Papilo to undergo quarterly waste management visits in pursuit of company-wide waste reduction strategy efforts.
Hallas continued, “We’re proud of our latest milestone, but we also know there’s still more to do. Our commitment to continuous improvement still drives us, as we look to further improve recycling rates across all operational areas. We’re continuing to work closely with our waste contracting partners to ensure we can achieve that goal.”
