Packitoo, part of the BOBST Group, has confirmed that its CEO, Thomas Othax, will present at Corrugated, part of FESPA Global Print Expo 2026.
At Europe’s leading tradeshow for the print and signage industry, Othax will lead a 30-minute presentation on how packaging converters can use AI to their competitive advantage on 20th May between 11.30am – 12pm.
Drawing on his background in cloud-based software development and marketing leadership positions, Othax will discuss what AI is, what it means for the corrugated board industry, and where packaging converters can utilise AI tools, such as Configure, Price and Quote (CPQ) systems, to deliver accurate sales quotations.
“In the last six months, AI has exploded in our industry, but there is still a lot of confusion around how best to use it,” commented Othax. “Packaging converters must understand that AI is not just another technology shift for the corrugated industry, it is changing organisational structures, transforming the very nature of how companies sell, operate and compete.
“For decades, converters have optimised production. Yet today that isn’t enough, especially during a challenging period with geopolitical instability. In fact, the real bottleneck is commercial execution. This is determined by how fast you respond, how accurately you quote, and how effectively you capture demand. AI is making a substantial impact here because it’s changing the rules. It’s becoming a lifeline for converters today precisely due to how it’s augmenting sales teams.
“At Packitoo, we believe the next competitive advantage will not come from machines alone, but from sales teams learning to adapt to and utilize this new way of working. With our HIPE platform, we are accelerating commercial operations by combining CPQ (Configure-Price-Quote) technology and automation with a new generation of AI agents. Today, these AI agents only assist with the sales pipeline, but soon they may be able to autonomously handle key steps of the sales process.
“Our mission is simple: help converters shift from reactive quoting to proactive intelligent selling. We want to show converters that AI doesn’t have to be a steep learning curve and that you can build in accuracy and profitability from the get-go. The companies that embrace this move early will not only improve efficiency, but they will also help to redefine and rejuvenate business performance across the corrugated industry.”
FESPA will take place at the Gran Via, Fira de Barcelona, Spain, between 19th – 22nd May, hosting three conferences simultaneously and six co-located events. The exhibition will cover topics from speciality print, signage, wraps, textiles and corrugated board across its four-day event.
