Opus Packaging Expands

Opus Packaging Group has acquired Wabash Container Corp. in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Wabash was started in 1993 and has been owned by Steve and Leann Burton since 2006.  

In a prepared statement, Butch Stoner and Kevin Manor, owners of Opus Packaging said, “Our goal is to maintain the family atmosphere that Steve and Leann have developed during their ownership of Wabash. Steve will continue directing day to day operations at Wabash while joining the Opus team. Wabash hosts just under 50 employees while operating out of one manufacturing facility and two offsite warehouses.” 

The addition of Wabash is the fourth manufacturing facility for Opus which also includes: Safeway Packaging, Inc., New Bremen, Ohio, Action Packaging, LLC, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Action Packaging – Jackson, LLC, Jackson, Michigan, and now Opus Packaging – Wabash, LLC (dba Wabash Container), Mt Carmel, Illinois.  

“We have previously announced that we will also open a manufacturing facility in Indianapolis which we have projected for a June 2019 startup. The acquisition of Wabash and expansion to Indianapolis immediately strengthens and balances our product and geographic portfolio to better serve our customers,” the owners reported. “Opus Packaging Group has been providing innovative packaging solutions to its customers since 1984. Our vision of becoming a world class provider in packaging solutions while leading in the markets we serve will be greatly enhanced by the acquisition of Wabash and expansion to Indianapolis.”
