Oji Group breaks ground on $110m aseptic carton packaging plant in Vietnam

Oji Group has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new US$110m (approximately €95m) aseptic carton packaging facility in Vietnam, which will operate under the Oji Liquid Pak (OLP) name.

The 57,000 sqm facility, located at Long Thanh High-tech Industrial Park in Dong Nai province, is scheduled to begin operations in 2028. It will have an annual production capacity of up to eight billion aseptic cartons for beverages and liquid food products and is expected to create more than 200 jobs.

The investment forms part of Oji Group’s strategy to expand its manufacturing and supply capabilities across Southeast Asia, with Vietnam serving as a production base for customers in the wider Asia-Pacific region.

“Vietnam is an important market and an increasingly strategic manufacturing base within Southeast Asia,” said Terauchi Mikito, Corporate Officer, Oji Holdings Corporation. “By establishing Oji Liquid Pak and investing in local production, we are strengthening our ability to serve customers in Vietnam and across the Asia-Pacific region.”

The facility will manufacture aseptic packaging materials compatible with existing roll-fed filling machinery. Oji Liquid Pak will offer customers packaging materials independently or as part of a wider system incorporating filling equipment and technical services.

The project also supports the group’s activities in carton collection and recycling across Southeast Asia, alongside Vietnam’s developing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.

Oji Liquid Pak operates alongside Italian aseptic packaging specialist IPI within Oji Holdings, combining packaging material production with filling technology and technical support.
