Obituary – Larry Schiffenhaus

Laurence C. Schiffenhaus, a devoted husband, father, and US Army veteran passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Laurence (Larry) graduated from Dartmouth College in 1952 and married Elizabeth V. Schiffenhaus (Betty), before serving in the Korean War.

Together, they had an amazing marriage of 74 years and during that time raised seven children and he was also the cherished grandfather to eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Laurence (along with his brother Anton) was a driving force behind the growth of Schiffenhaus Packaging Corporation into one of the industry’s most prestigious packaging entities, a company founded by his great grandfather in 1895. They led the company into a new era of innovation, focusing on environmentally friendly packaging and advanced printing technologies.

His leadership in multiple industry associations enhanced the company’s reputation and secured its future for his subsequent family generations. In recognition of his contributions to the industry, Larry was inducted into the AICC Hall of Fame in 1995.
