It has been reported that Valencia, Spain-based Obeikan MDF, which is owned by Saudi Arabian investment company Obeikan, is in the process of being permanently closed.
In a formal statement from the trade union, CCOO del Hàbitat del País Valencià, the corrugated packaging converter is to issue a collective redundancy procedure (ERE) and full closure of the site. This action will result in the loss of over 100 jobs.
The Valencia plant – which once employed up to 175 people – had seen its workforce reduce in recent years, producing corrugated packaging for fruit and vegetable producer in export markets.
