Nefab and Nokia have teamed up to create a fibre-based packaging solution for Nokia’s 5G RF modules, replacing traditional plastic with Nefab’s FiberFlute cushioning. This innovation not only meets strict protection and performance standards but also significantly reduces plastic waste and environmental impact.

“We’re proud to share that this project has been named a finalist for the Nokia Diamond Award 2025 in the Sustainability category! Together, we’re driving sustainability forward, one innovation at a time,” said Nefab in the statement.
Key Benefits of the FiberFlute Solution;
- Plastic Waste Reduction: Replacing PE foam with FiberFlute eliminates 44,000 tons of plastic waste annually;
- Lower Carbon Emissions: The design cuts CO₂ emissions by 7 tons per year;
- Improved Last Mile Protection: The packaging stays with the product until installation, ensuring full protection to the site.
“Achieving sustainability targets is a shared journey, and the success of the FiberFlute packaging solution reflects strong cooperation between our teams. This collaboration demonstrates what is possible when we work together toward more sustainable packaging in telecom,” says Jonas Steibert, Global Segment Director – Telecom, Nokia.
