MHI corrugator for Penha of Brazil

As an existing customer of MHI EMEA, Penha of Brazil continues its investments in state-of-the-art equipment following a recent contract signing for the supply of a new corrugator and a slitter scorer for an existing machine.

“Our relationship with Penha goes back many years,” explains Giovanni Bettini, Head of Sales, MHI EMEA and South America. “They installed an SH350 2.5m full line corrugator about 10 years ago and they also run no fewer than three EVOL 100 flexo folder gluers, two of which have the Dual Slotter solution. But this latest order, which we concluded in late January, is a real game changer for Penha.”

The Brazilian corrugated producer has now ordered a complete 2.5m NGC corrugator. The new line has been specified for single wall production, with a line speed of 400m/min and splicing speeds of 584m/min. “The line has the gapless order change system and a waste removal unit rated up to 400m/min, allowing the customer to benefit from MHI’s Steady Stater concept,” adds Bettini.

The second part of the order is for a 67N slitter scorer, which is being installed on a previously installed European made corrugator.

The complete 2.5m NGC corrugator and the 67N slitter scorer will be installed at Penha’s facility in Itapira, Sao Paulo during 2025, where they run the existing MHI corrugator and three EVOL flexo folder gluers.

“We are delighted to be extending our relationship further with Penha,” concludes Bettini. “Brazil is certainly ready to embrace growth in demand for corrugated packaging over the coming years, and these new machines will put Penha in an unenviable position as one of the country’s leading independent producers”.
