Logson sets out investment plans for Scotland

UK-based Logson Group has confirmed that as part of the company’s future development plans, a new state-of-the-art sheet feeding facility will be built the Euro-Central business park in Motherwell, Scotland.

This purpose-built facility for Board24 will be developed on a brownfield site adjacent to the M8, which provides excellent access links to the rest of the country. The expected completion is December 2023.

This will enable Board24 to secure additional growth for the business, supported by a new BHS Corrugated line and full material handling system with the required ancillary equipment. This will significantly increase the company’s capabilities to produce sheet board and have the capacity to meet all customer needs and growth aspirations. In addition, the new facility will enable the business to take a more sustainable approach by optimising transport, reducing waste, and further expanding Logson groups Solar energy generation programme.

David Richardson, CEO, Logson commented, “I’m excited to be joining the Logson business as CEO at a time when the business is investing significantly to support its customers in Scotland. The customer focused culture that exists within Board24 has helped the continued growth over recent years.”

Elsewhere within the Group, Boxshop Ltd has embarked upon a major investment programme to transform its operational capabilities by Spring 2023. This investment in an HQPP converting line will support both existing and new customers, in particular targeting the food and drink sectors, e-commerce, and others with a requirement for corrugated boxes with exceptional print quality. This forms a key part of the business growth plans to offer excellent product quality, coupled with outstanding service levels to its customer base throughout Scotland.  The machine is a BOBST EXPERTFLEX six colour printer, which will be installed in March 2023 and mirrors an existing an printer within the Logson Group at The Cardboard Box Co, offering customers the confidence that quality and capability can be replicated on a multi-site basis to deliver maximum output to support our high-volume customers.

Jennifer Riddell, Managing Director, Boxshop, commented, “This investment significantly strengthens Boxshop’s commitment in supporting our customers and solidifies our position as the leading independent supplier of corrugated packaging solutions in Scotland.”
