Accurate Box Co has completed the installation of three Kohler Coating WaterDecks across all three of its laminators. This new system is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to optimize manufacturing processes and improve material performance.
The Kohler WaterDeck is a water application system designed to optimize the application of moisture during the lamination process. By replacing the company’s previous spray system, which offered limited control, the new WaterDeck allows for an even and controlled distribution of water across the liner before the singlefacer.
Accurate Box initially trialed the WaterDeck system on one laminator over a three-month period. During the trial, the company saw significant benefits, including flatter board production, reduced water and starch consumption, and lower heat requirements. The improved board quality allows for faster production speeds and easier processing of thinner substrates. Following the successful trial, the company installed the WaterDeck on its remaining two laminators, with all three units becoming fully operational in early February.
With greater control over moisture and temperature, the WaterDeck minimizes common issues like warp, delamination, and cracking. Operators also benefit from easier setup adjustments between jobs and improved consistency in board quality, which supports downstream processes and consistent packaging for Accurate Box’s customers.
“Accurate Box is proud to partner with Kohler Coating, another fourth-generation, family-owned business. The two companies share a history of innovation and continuous improvement, making the partnership a natural fit. Together, they’ve implemented technology that strengthens Accurate Box’s production processes, reduces waste, and reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality packaging,” said Lisa Hirsh, President, Accurate Box Co.
