K+D choose manroland press and two new die-cutters

Swiss carton converter K+D is not only commissioning the biggest eight colour printing machine in the east of the country, but also bringing its investments earmarked for 2017/2018 forwards to the end of 2016. The company cited productivity reasons and replacing two older die-cutters as the reasons for moving up its investment plans. The total investment made by the K+D Group from 2015 to 2017 is well over CHF 30 million, making the company well equipped for challenging market requirements in the future.

For the finishing of pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging, the new manroland press has eight offset printing and two coating units: these enable either eight colour printing and double coating, or cold-foiling with simultaneous six olour printing and double coating. K+D therefore has a state-of-the-art, high-performance machine, whose configuration was tailored precisely to its customers’ order structure. This machine will make digital offset printing a reality – the perfect preparatory step towards digital printing.

For productivity reasons, K+D is also investing earlier than scheduled in choosing two Bobst Expertcut 106 PER die-cutters and these will replace two older die-cutting machines by the end of the year.

K+D commissioned its new flagship cenre at a customer party held on Friday 2nd September. Thanks to its prime location and high quality of development, the new ‘Schuppis 10’ office and production building of the sister company K+D Immo AG is already threequarters let. ‘Working in a superb climate’ is a total success.

“With the new ‘Schuppis 10’ production and administration building, which should be occupied by the end of 2016, we are investing now in the most modern and productive offset and die-cutting technology available. Maximum productivity and a pioneering role in terms of technology are the measure of all things in Switzerland. This is a further commitment to Switzerland as a business location and a well-deserved demonstration of the confidence we have in our customers and employees,” says Stefan Kuhn, Chairman and CEO of K+D AG.
