Jass invests in new sheetfeeder plant in Poland

Fulda/Hesse, Germany-based Jass Group is expanding once again, with the confirmation of plans to build another sheetfeeder plant in Poland.

Back at the end of 2019, the company expanded its product range to include corrugated board and sheets when it acquired the Polish company Convert Paper. To continue to satisfy the increasing level of demand, another state-of-the-art site for Convert Paper is now being constructed in the Górnego Śląska economic region in southern Poland. This investment is set to create up to 60 new jobs.

With a working width of 2.8m and an operating speed of up to 450 m/min, the new corrugator supplied by BHS Corrugated will produce up to 250m sqm of corrugated board each year, operating in three shifts. The focus will be on single and doublewall corrugated board with B, C and E flutes and their various combinations. Production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2022.

The new plant is set to be constructed on a plot covering an area of 13.6 hectares in Dąbrowa Górnicza. This region in southern Poland, which is known as the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), is the country‘s most heavily industrialised and urbanised region.

“Ultimately, the well-developed infrastructure and close links to our customers were the crucial reason why we chose this location for the new site,” explains Marcin Grabowski, Managing Director of Convert Paper. “The transport routes to our customers will be much shorter. This will result not only in a further increase in delivery speed, but also a marked reduction in CO2 emissions.”

The new site will create a total of 60 new jobs. A fully air-conditioned production hall with maximum noise insulation will create an extremely positive working environment. “As an owner-run corporate group, it has always been one of our corporate values to take responsibility for our employees and provide secure jobs that offer good career prospects,” explains Dr Marietta Jass-Teichmann, CEO of the Jass Group.
