Jack Schwarz Honored

Jack Schwarz, Senior General Partner, Schwarz Partners, was presented with the Fastmarkets RISI Lifetime Achievement award during the International Containerboard Conference, Nov. 14-15 at the Eden Roc hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. Schwarz Partners is a holding company with a focus on the transportation and containerboard industries. Industry-related companies consist of Royal Box Group, LLC, New-Indy Containerboard (a joint venture with the Kraft Group LLC), Carolina Container, Integrity Fiber Supply, Venture Logistics and various sheet feeder facilities.

Schwarz began his career in corrugated as a salesman for Wabash Fibre Box in 1965 after two years as an accountant for a steel mill. He started CeCorr, one of the first sheet feeders in the U.S., in 1977. In 1998, Georgia-Pacific Corp. acquired CeCorr, which at the time operated 11 sheet feeder plants and a small medium mill.

Dan and Jonathan Kraft made a surprise appearance during the award ceremony. Jonathan Kraft said Jack Schwarz embodies the American dream by helping others. “When he thought about creating CeCorr he knew there were hundreds of independent sheet plant owners trying to pursue the American dream and there was a limit to what they could do because there wasn’t a consistent supply of high quality sheets.” The Krafts, whose father Robert owns the New England Patriots football team, presented Schwarz with a Patriots football.

Also during the conference, Steve Voorhees, CEO of WestRock, was presented with the Special Recognition Award and Miguel Rincon, Chairman and CEO of Bio-PAPPEL, was honored with the PPI Awards Global CEO of the Year 2019.
