Investment for Klabin at its Horizonte facility

Brazilian paper and packaging group, Klabin, has confirmed it is set to invest R$188m at its Horizonte facility in the state of Ceará. The aim of the investment is to increase production capacity by 80,000 tons per year from 2023.

The new capacity created by this investment project will mainly serve the fruit market in the Northeast of the country, which has experienced a significant growth in demand. Part of the investment will be earmarked for the installation of an Industry 4.0 enabled corrugator and a seven-colour flexo printing machine.

“This is another step by Klabin, reinforcing our commitment in the Northeastern market and in the creation of a sustainable value chain with all partners,” said a company spokesperson.

Klabin acquired the plant in the city of Horizonte in September 2019. With the acquisition, the company expanded its production of corrugated packaging, anticipating supply to the growing fruit market in the Northeast region of the country. The 30,000 sqm plant is located 35km from Fortaleza and 90km from the port of Pecém.
