Ibratec expands

This year marks a milestone for Ibratec, a Latin American packaging supplier founded 30 years ago. The company has invested $15 million, inaugurated a new plant and grown to be a major player in the folding carton industry, concentrating on a guaranteed supply of packaging to major consumer product brands.

The company runs two equivalent plants, both self-sufficient in electrical energy, one in Araçariguama and the other, which is new, in Itapevi; both of them are strategically located close to the capital and the main highways of São Paulo, Brazil. Fresh investments in infrastructure, machines, processes and technology will expand production capacity to 78,000 tons of certified raw material per year.

The new plant in Itapevi is operating with a modern large format printer. Besides enabling the printing of sheets up to 1450mm, the machine runs with precision regularity and controls print quality in the online mode.

Ibratec’s new equipment includes a hybrid ink system, for both conventional and UV inks, with printing presses for up to seven colors, dual inline application of varnish and an integrated logistics system. Trained operators ensure operational autonomy and machine maintenance, with an ongoing focus on guaranteed supply for Ibratec customers. A diecutter and finishing machines complete the packaging production line, with a process capacity of 1,800 tons of cartonboard a month.
