It has been reported that Griffiths Waste Management has secured £2m in funding for developing a new MRF in Swansea, from the Development Bank of Wales.
The company said the investment will significantly enhance its group-wide operational capacity. The new plant, which is almost completed, is expected to be on stream before the end of 2026. The new MRF is designed to be able to process up to 200,000 tonnes of waste per year, which is significantly more than the company’s existing Swansea facility.
Gavin Griffiths, Managing Director, said, “This investment is the next stage in the evolution of our business and reflects our long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation and the circular economy. We recognised some time ago that the future of waste management lies in recovering more materials, reducing landfill and producing higher-quality recycled products that can be reused within industry. This new facility will allow us to do exactly that.”
