Green Bay Packaging set to build new facility in Tulsa

Green Bay Packaging Inc. (GBP) has confirmed it will begin construction of a new 550,000 sq. ft. corrugator plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Construction on the site is set to begin on September 1, 2020 and start up is scheduled for October 2021.

The new ‘super plant’ will be replacing GBP’s current 180,000 sq. ft corrugator plant in Tulsa. GBP has operated a plant in Tulsa for over 50 years. The new plant will be equipped with a new 110” Fosber corrugator and all new state of the art high speed flexo folder gluers and rotary die-cutters.

“We are excited to continue to invest in our employees and customers of Oklahoma,” said Will Kress, President and CEO of GBP. “The Tulsa operation is an important part of GBP and the leadership and employees of this division are second to none. We believe in investing in our people and our loyal customers and we are looking forward to the next phase in Tulsa.”

The Tulsa announcement is another step in the continued growth and expansion of GBP. Over the last 24 months, GBP completed substantial expansions of their Green Bay Shipping Container and Minneapolis Shipping Container plants. They have installed a new 110” BHS corrugator in Green Bay and installed new high speed and high graphic lines in multiple plants across the country. GBP built and started up a new 175,000 sq. ft sales, marketing and distribution center in Downers Grove, Illinois earlier this year. They also secured a minority ownership position of the leading digital printing company, CompanyBox.

“We believe in this industry and our employees and customers,” said Bryan Hollenbach, Executive Vice President of GBP. “Our new paper mill is tracking right on time with a projected startup in the first quarter of 2021. The new Tulsa operation is a significant investment in our personnel and the future of this business. It is a fun time to be working for GBP.”

“We partnered with an excellent, local General Contractor – Crossland Construction,” added Ryan Boegh, VP/GM of GBP’s Tulsa division. “We are extremely excited to expand our business to the next level of growth in the Greater Tulsa Region. The combination of our people, the community, and our loyal customers have allowed us to take this next step.”
