Leiston, UK-based Kirby-DIG has confirmed it recently installed a new FPS 2200 at WEKA in Sebnitz, Germany. The sale was handled by German agent, Steinmüller Customized Solutions.
Gary Knights, CEO of the company, states that the machine is quite special, as it is believed to be one of the only types available that can do slot-distances down to 40mm done with only one working shaft. He adds that slot distances of even less can be run if a second working shaft is engaged.
“We use high-quality airshafts, reliable Siemens compents and a suitable lead-edge feeder that allows us to convert sheets with a minimum size of 220 x 220mm,” confirms Knights.
For the privately owned WEKA, the new FPS 2200 is the second FPS line, following a previous investment in a FPS 2000. The owners of WEKA have relied on Kirby–DIG British machinery design for more than 20 years. “They pushed us hard to manufacture a 200mm wide FPS with servo driven die-cutter for them,” concludes Knights.
