Fosber has confirmed the sale of a complete S/Line 420 corrugator to Fernandez S/A, based in Amparo, São Paulo, Brazil.
The investment marks a significant chapter in the long-standing relationship between the two companies. Fernandez Papel, a family-owned industry pioneer founded in 1971, is currently undergoing a dynamic transition under the leadership of its younger generation. This new investment signals the family’s commitment to modernising their production capabilities and securing their position as a premier provider of 100% recycled paper and corrugated solutions in the Latin American market.
The new installation will feature a high-speed, 2.8m S/Line 420 configured for double-wall production. To ensure maximum efficiency and flexibility, the line includes a triple dry-end, allowing Fernandez to optimise order changes and maintain high output across a diverse product mix.
The line is fully equipped with Fosber Industry 4.0 features, including advanced data acquisition and diagnostic tools. These smart technologies will allow the customer to monitor real-time performance, improve energy efficiency, and ensure consistent board quality through automated process control.
Fernandez Papel is well positioned as an integrated producer. At their Amparo facility, they operate three paper machines (with deckles of 3100mm, 2600mm, and 2600mm) producing high-quality corrugated base paper from recycled fibres.
The new S/Line 420 will complement their existing operations, which currently include a Medesa line already enhanced with Fosber technology (a slitter scorer and rotary shear). By adding a complete, brand-new Fosber S/Line corrugator, Fernandez is significantly scaling its capacity to convert its own high-quality base papers into premium corrugated board and boxes.
“We are honoured that the Fernandez family has once again chosen Fosber as their strategic partner,” said Marco Bertola, CEO, Fosber Group. “Watching the younger generation take the helm with such a clear vision for technological advancement is inspiring. The S/Line 420 is the perfect match for their high standards of sustainability and operational excellence.”
The installation of the new S/Line 420 is expected to take place later this year, representing a major leap forward in production speed and board quality for the Brazilian packaging sector.
