Flex-Punkt invests in second Miraclon FLEXCEL NX System

German flexo pre-press house Flex-Punkt Druckformen has installed a second FLEXCEL NX Wide 4260 System from Miraclon, as part of a programme to better manager workloads and deliver rush customer requests.

David Weber, Managing Director, Flex-Punkt, explained, “We have always placed great importance on quality, innovation and service. Production security was the primary reason for investing in a second FLEXCEL NX System. Having two systems also gives us the flexibility to absorb peak workloads and respond more efficiently to urgent customer requests while maintaining smooth and reliable production.”

Following beta trials, Flex-Punkt has transitioned to using FLEXCEL Prime plates.

Flex-Punkt has worked with FLEXCEL NX technology for more than a decade, having first installed a FLEXCEL NX Wide 4260 System in 2013. Over the past 13 years, the original FLEXCEL NX System has evolved and supported the company’s growth through software upgrades, such as Miraclon’s multi-form plate surface patterning, including its latest triple-form patterning technology, PureFlexo™ Printing, and Automated Plate Layout tool designed to streamline plate layout and increase automation in platemaking.

In 2023, Flex-Punkt’s FLEXCEL plate production was officially certified through the Miraclon Certification Program.

While the new FLEXCEL NX Wide 4260 System is handling the majority of Flex-Punkt’s day-to-day production, the original system remains in regular use, operating in parallel when additional capacity is required or when special projects could otherwise disrupt normal production workflows.

More recently, Flex-Punkt has transitioned to using FLEXCEL Prime plates. Flex-Punkt was involved in beta testing of the FLEXCEL Prime plate ahead of its official launch in March 2026 and became one of the first companies to fully transition to FLEXCEL Prime plates soon after.

Vadim Becker, Managing Director, Flex-Punkt, said, “We did not need to create new curves with our printer customers, and all existing jobs could be imaged and printed on FLEXCEL Prime Plates without any adjustments.

“The significantly faster post-exposure process has improved our time management and reduced pressure on what used to be a bottleneck in our finishing workflow.”

Weber added, “We have always taken a long-term approach to developing the business, and these investments are an important part of that. With additional capacity, our transition to FLEXCEL Prime Plates complete, and a strengthened management team in place, we have the capacity and flexibility to keep growing while delivering the quality, consistency and service our customers expect.”
