The BoxMaker, a Seattle, Washington, based leader in digitally printed and finished corrugated packaging, will be the first North American installation of the Macarbox Digital Laser Cutting Machine (LCD). The machine will expand the company’s current die-less cutting capabilities, significantly increasing capacity and speed for converting corrugated boxes and retail displays.
The Macarbox LCD machine provides laser cutting and creasing technology for corrugated board without the need for any additional tooling or dies. As a high-speed single-pass laser, this equipment is said to operate faster than existing automated CAD table technologies, and deliver new capabilities including fine shape cutouts, small openings and acute angles, precision perforation, sequential numbering, and etching.
According to Daniel Dixon, Director of Operational Excellence at The BoxMaker, the Macarbox LCD is a natural complement to the company’s existing digital printing and die-less converting operations. “The larger format of the machine, zero consumables needed, and wide range of materials that can be converted are a great fit for our plant’s production needs at this time.
