E-PACK Europe

Smithers have recently unveiled the programme for the 2020 E-PACK Europe conference, taking place in Amsterdam from 21-23 April. The event is the only one of its kind in Europe which explores the full landscape of the fast-growing packaging for e-commerce market. An impressive line-up of industry-leading brands and retailers, startups and some of the biggest names in packaging will share how they are pushing the boundaries to create more sustainable and innovative solutions for e-commerce.

The first European edition of the conference in 2019 and was met with an overwhelming response, welcoming over 200 professionals from across the global supply chain, and providing a much-needed platform to discuss the technical and operational challenges facing the fast-growing e-commerce packaging industry. Addressing the need for companies to adapt and evolve packaging that meets all needs of the market, this year’s agenda will focus heavily on innovation and sustainability at every level of the value chain, from packaging design and technology, to materials, distribution and delivery networks.

The two-day conference will begin with an update on global market & consumer trends and regulations, with insights from logistics giant, DHL, and senior representatives from Google, Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Smurfit Kappa who will explore the importance of the online customer experience and potential implications for packaging. Other topics set to be discussed include:

  • Designing sustainable e-commerce packaging, with speakers from H&M, Mars Wrigley, Reckitt Benckiser, Barilla, and Perfetti Van Melle;.
  • Supply chain initiatives, with speakers from Zalando, European Outdoor Group, Repack and Loop;
  • How new technologies are helping to transform e-commerce business, with speakers from Estee Lauder, HP, H.B. Fuller and Suez Trading; 
  • Sustainable innovations for e-commerce packaging, with speakers from Tetra Pak, Amcor Group and Ace & Tate.

The conference will conclude with a series of 10-minute presentations showcasing new and innovative solutions from top startup companies. In addition to the dynamic conference programme, delegates can take part in an experiential workshop and site visit to Smurfit Kappa’s Global Experience Centre in Amsterdam.
