It has been widely reported that DS Smith is planning on expanding three of its plants in Germany, with an investment in the region of €120m.
The funds are being allocated for upgrading of the three sites, with the aim of increasing capacity throughout the German market:
- Nördlingen will get around €75m of the project, to include a new corrugator and high-rack storage system;
- Arenshausen will receive approximately €35m for site upgrades and new converting equipment;
- Arnstadt will benefit from almost €10m, specifically for converting equipment.
The company has said it will be closing the factory in Berlin, saying that it is no longer economically viable to keep it open.
