The BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition in Bangkok will open on Monday, 27 October 2025 with an inspiring keynote address by Juan Verde, internationally renowned policy expert and corporate strategist. The session will be chaired by BIR President Susie Burrage, setting the stage for a powerful start to the Convention.

A trusted advisor to US Presidents Biden, Obama and Clinton, Verde (pictured left) has dedicated his career to shaping strategies at the intersection of business, trade and sustainability.

From his leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Commerce to advising global companies like Google, Cisco and American Express, Verde brings unparalleled insight into how sustainable development and strategic alliances can drive growth.

In his keynote address, he will share how the green economy is reshaping industries worldwide, and why recycling stands at the very heart of this transformation. Drawing on decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, he will provide delegates with practical perspectives on:
