On August 23, 2023, NESTRO’s founder and owner, Paulus Nettelnstroth, received the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Cross of Merit is awarded annually by the Federal President for special achievements in the political, economic, cultural, intellectual or voluntary fields. Erwin Ponert, former manager at the Schkölen sealing materials plant, had suggested the award to the Office of the Federal President. Thuringia’s Prime Minister, Bodo Ramelow, visited Nestro Lufttechnik GmbH in October 2019, and Nettelnstroth also showed him the dilapidated former sealing plant in Schkölen in the Saale-Holzland district. Based on these impressions, the Prime Minister accepted Ponert’s suggestion, supported it and personally awarded the Federal Cross of Merit at a ceremony in the Kaisersaal in Erfurt.
