During its annual press conference, COPACEL (French Union of Cardboard, Paper and Cellulose Industries), presented the economic outlook for the paper industry in 2022, after the strong rebound in activity observed in 2021 (+7%).
In a context of unprecedented rise in the cost of raw materials and energy, French paper companies will face several risks in 2022, some of them linked to the conflict in Ukraine. They include:
- Sustained high energy prices;
- The increase in the cost of various raw materials (wood, starch);
- A deceleration in consumption caused by the combination of inflation and the conflict in Ukraine;
- The persistence of logistical disorders due to the health situation.
At the event, COPACEL also released an industry update, which can be seen here.
