Conveyor investment drives efficiencies at Boxes and Packaging

Boxes and Packaging has made a £250,000 investment in its manufacturing conveyor system at its Doncaster site. The investment has transformed the operations of the finishing line, removing manual conveyors, with a fully automated system.

Derek Short, Production Manager, Boxes and Packaging (Doncaster) commented, “The team is enjoying some great benefits from the changes we have made including reducing the manual handling required and helping goods to move from the finishing line to the pallet press more speedily. It’s streamlined how we work and has ensured that our Doncaster facility has further improved its efficiencies.”

Products that have been processed through the variety of converting machines now feed into the conveyor system, before being automatically transferred to the pallet press. Goods are then collected by the FLT driver for either moving into storage or to a vehicle for delivery.

The design and installation was carried out by Lancashire based firm, Blackstar Handling Systems, who had already supported sister company Cardboard Box Company, with materials handling projects.
