Colbert Adds Efficiencies with New Speedmaster

U.S. based Colbert Packaging has increased its package insert production capacity with the installation of a new Heidelberg Speedmaster SX 102-2P. The perfecting press was added to the company’s Kenosha, Wisconsin facility, where it manufactures package inserts as well as folding cartons and pressure-sensitive roll labels.

Printing and perfecting up to 14,000 sheets per hour, the SX 102’s perfecting technology ensures consistently high-quality at incredible sheet travel times, even with very thin substrates.

“We produce a high volume of pharmaceutical package inserts that are custom-printed and then micro-folded into as many as 238 panels,” said John Lackner, Vice President of Corporate Operations at Colbert Packaging. “We chose the SX 102 for its ability to rapidly feed and deliver lightweight substrates, which is critical to our insert production operation. The SX 102 has greatly increased our capacity for this product line.”

The company is no stranger to Heidelberg’s high-quality production. With Prinect Pressroom Manager, a POLAR lightweight paper cutter, a Speedmaster XL 106, and a Heidelberg CD 102 in its manufacturing platform, Colbert Packaging can trust that the SX 102 will deliver the same optimum performance they’re used to.
