The Cartonneries de Gondardennes Group (CGW), has signed an agreement with the shareholders of Groupe Lacaux, which will lead to an acquisition by CGW. This is expected to be finalised in April 2019 following the successful completion of the due diligence process.
The Lacaux Group is a specialist producer of premium grade corrugated sheet board and packaging. Its production facilities allow it to respond quickly to customer demands especially on short run work. Since 2012, they have been increasing their presence in the converting market through a series of targeted acquisitions.
Following the successful completion of this transaction, members of the new group will be better placed to service existing customer demands, as well as offering a wider range of products, together with a greater combined capacity and geographic coverage.
All Group businesses share the same vision for quality and service, as well as the technical expertise to keep pace with the evolving market trends through competitiveness and innovation. This new Group will be made up of the following manufacturing sites across France :
- CGW: With an annual capacity of 180,000 tons of recycled liners and 250 million sqm of board (Wardrecques);
- Cartonneries de l’ Ondaine : 80 million sqm of board (Andrézieux – Bouthéon);
- Lacaux Frères : 36,000 tons of recycled liners and 60 million sqm of board (Bosmie l’Aiguille);
- Sheet Plants — Cartonnerie de l’Esperance (Reims), EDC Transmouss (Montagne au Perche), Carton Plus (Arnas) and Cartonnages Champenois, a merchant specialising in the Champagne sector (Reims).
The combined turnover of the group is approx €200m and the number of people currently employed is around 660.
