Boomerang gluer for digitally printed packaging

ipack solutions has become UK & Ireland distributor for the Boomerang range of single-operator folder-gluers, which are particularly suited to finishing short-run packaging and digitally printed work.

John Hall, Managing Director of ipack solutions, said, “For a couple of years now, we’ve been looking for a small format folder-gluer that would suit the growing number of plants producing digitally printed products. The Boomerang can cost-effectively handle the very short run-lengths typical with digital, whether you’re producing cartons, wallets or folders. The machine achieves this by being very quick to set and only needing a single operator to run it. These same characteristics also make it suited to packaging manufacturers who might be struggling with the much-reduced order sizes in today’s carton market. We think that Boomerang will be well received by carton makers, trade finishers and commercial printers alike, and we are delighted to have agreed the sole UK & Ireland distribution rights.”

The concept of the Boomerang models is that the stream of folded and glued products returns to the feeder end of the machine, allowing the single operator to both feed the machine and pack the finished products. The Boomerang range, comprising of the Boomer 4, 5 & 6 depending on size, handles blanks from 50 to 650 mm wide, in materials up to 800gsm cartonboard and N, F or E-flute, and can run straight-line blanks at up to 20,000 boxes per hour.

Mr Hall said, “The return on investment of these machines is fast, on top of which they are easy to maintain and they have a much smaller footprint than conventional folder gluers – the Boomer 4 is less than six metres long – so it can easily be added alongside existing lines.”
