BFT Group has completed the installation and start-up of new inking and doctor blade chamber technology on a Latitude Machinery Corp (LMC) press at an unnamed corrugated board plant in Kansas, USA.
The LMC press has been equipped with four complete BFT Carbon fibre doctor blade chamber systems, integrated with the BFT Flexo GT-CORR automated inking and washing system developed specifically for corrugated printing applications.
According to BFT, the installation is designed to provide more consistent ink transfer across the print units while automating wash-up to reduce changeover times and production downtime. The system is also intended to reduce ink and water consumption and associated waste.
The carbon fibre construction of the doctor blade chambers reduces their weight, making them easier for operators to handle during production and maintenance.
The project represents another retrofit of an LMC press with BFT technology in the North American corrugated market.
