On 16th December, Buckeye Corrugated Inc. (BCI) opened its new 260,000-sq-ft sheet plant in Houston, Texas. The new facility is about 20 miles north of downtown Houston and serves as the base of operations for 98 associates.
During the months of November and December BCI transitioned existing equipment to the new facility. Several new pieces of equipment were also added to improve workflow efficiency and increase capacity.
The new facility includes a Bobst eight-color DRO with JB Machinery dryers; a Ward three-color flexo folder-gluer with diecut section and Alliance pre-feeder; a new Ward three-color rotary diecutter with an Alliance pre-feeder; a new scrap system; powered conveyor with transfer car; two Martin stackers with the SQC feature; dual unitizers with turntables; two inline stretch wrappers, and a new ink kitchen.
