Envac has confirmed an extended contract with Barking Riverside Ltd (BRL) to further implement its innovative waste management system in one of Europe’s largest residential developments. The move supports the ongoing commitment to sustainability, as Barking Riverside continues to develop its eco-friendly infrastructure.
By extending its automated waste collection system (AWCS), Envac will help reduce carbon emissions, reduce the number of traditional waste trucks, and minimise traffic congestion, creating a greener, cleaner environment. The system uses underground pipes and vacuum technology to efficiently transport waste to a central collection point, ensuring hygiene and operational effectiveness.
Dave Buckley, Sales Director of Envac UK, commented, “We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with Barking Riverside Ltd. This extension strengthens Barking Riverside’s role as a leader in sustainable urban living and will enhance its eco-friendly community.”
Barking Riverside already boasts an impressive recycling rate of 41%, far exceeding the London average, and the introduction of a new cardboard shredder helps prevent 105 tonnes of waste from reaching landfill each year. The development, spanning 443 acres, includes plans for 20,000 homes, green spaces, and community hubs, all supported by the innovative Envac system.
