APP Sinar Mas starts feasibility project to build new mill in India

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) has said in a recent press statement that it has now started a feasibility project that would see the construction of a new paper and board mill in Dherand in India.

The project focusses on the creation of a mill with the capacity of 1.2m tonnes per year, producing a wide range of printing paper, tissue and cartonboard.

It is believed that an agreement between the government of Maharshtra state and Sinar Mas (parent company of APP) was signed in May at the Wolrd Economic Forum in Davos. APP says that the capital expenditure for the project will be in the region of $1.2bn, with the mill coming on stream in 2025, ramping up to full production by 2027.
