Altonaer Wellpappenfabrik adds casemaker and palletising capacity

Part of the Panther Group, Altonaer Wellpappenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG in Tornesch near Hamburg is expanding its capacity for the production of high-quality corrugated boxes with an additional inline machine, thereby creating the conditions for satisfying the continuously increasing demand.

The new BOBST 8.20 BS EXPERTLINE has a working width of 2.0m. The proven configuration of the flexo folder gluer system forms the basis for the new investment. The fully automated and completely networked 4-colour machine increases the level of productivity significantly and supports the optimisation of production costs.

A pre-feeder and a robotic palletiser take care of the loading and palletising of the finished goods from this high-performance machine.

The fulfilment of customer requirements for maximum quality is further improved with this investment. Conservation of energy and resources are features of the system that are repeatedly put to the test in everyday work and that meet the Panther Group’s self-imposed goals, in line with the Panther pro nature sustainability strategy. Since the semi-finished goods warehouse in the entire plant was already fully automated in 2019, the renewal of the palletising system by Dücker Group now enables the entire workflow in the company to be digitized throughout.

Some building works were carried out for the new Dücker palletising logistics. Larger wall openings in the production hall, the installation of transport rails, cable routes and compressed air lines were necessary in order to be able to assemble the new and existing system compnents. Two strapping machines and one stretch wrapping machine were taken over from the machine park. The logistics now include various automated transport trolleys for handling the pallets. The new palletising system was included in the automatic pallet tracking and visualization system already in place at Altonaer Wellpappenfabrik.
