AICC, The Independent Packaging Association in partnership with INSCO, has announced a specialized training program to be offered during Corrugated Week 2026, the industry event jointly hosted by TAPPI and AICC.
“Corrugator Defects: How Sheet Quality Impacts Converting Performance” will run on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
It is ideally suited to corrugator operators and supervisors, converting supervisors, production managers, plant managers, quality managers and technicians, and operations leaders seeking to improve productivity, reduce waste, and strengthen profitability. The program has been designed to examine the relationship between corrugator sheet quality and downstream converting operations. The curriculum addresses the following principal topics:
- Identification of common sheet defects, including warp, delamination, bonding issues, moisture imbalance, and dimensional instability;
- Root cause analysis of corrugator sheet defects and the process factors that contribute to each;
- The effect of sheet defects on converting processes, including printing, die-cutting, folding, and gluing;
- The broader consequences of sheet quality issues for production efficiency, waste reduction, and overall plant performance.
Instruction will be led by Freerk van der Laan, an international corrugating process specialist and consultant with more than 38 years of experience in process optimization, including over 30 years dedicated to the paper and board industry. As the founder of Corr-Tag / Corr-Trading, he works with corrugated manufacturers around the world to improve performance through technical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
Through this partnership, AICC and INSCO continue to extend their shared commitment to practical, peer-driven education that supports the ongoing development of the corrugated workforce and helps member companies remain competitive in an evolving marketplace.
The program requires an additional cost to attend beyond standard Corrugated Week registration.
